I read somewhere recently that they are tweaking the design of that gateway to mesh with the building design. The current design was kind of semi-permanent given that they wanted something there but had no idea when they'd be building anything else on the block. Makes sense though...that corner plaza was totally hemmed in by trees and other vegetation, since it didn't need to lead anywhere, but now it will need to tie into the building going up.
