It's also likely hampered the development of all communities between them. I always like to imagine a large city on the flat plain around Mt. Vernon, or at Sequim or Port Townsend, at the entrance to puget sound. With more travel and shipping between puget sound and victoria and vancouver, I could picture a Tacoma-sized city forming in those locations
