The problem with that is that the Metrorail is ran by Miami Dade Transit, not Broward Transit. Metrorail, is subsidized by Miami Dade taxpayers, not Broward taxpayers. It would be a complete fantasy if Metrorail would reach all the way to Ft Lauderdale, but because of politics and territory, Metrorail can only go as far as County Line.

If Broward County is ever going to consider having local mass transit, then it’s going to have to invest in it’s own mass transit system (hopefully heavy rail countywide and maybe light rail within Ft Lauderdale). As far as intercity service goes, there’s always Tri Rail, Amtrak, and Brightline to travel between FL cities.

I believe that the Silver Line project in DC is a very fine project that doesn’t need any express service of it’s kind due to DC’s size. There’s no such thing as express service in DC’s metro since DC is only 62 sq. mi. and the Metro serves DC perfectly the way NYC’s subway serves NYC perfectly, Boston’s T serves that city well, Chicago’s El serves it well, and BART in the Bay Area does a fine job connecting, SF, Oakland, and San Jose. It doesn’t always have to be express to connect between destinations.
