^As noted, the curing of concrete is exothermic, so it always steams in very cold weather.

I always thought it was interesting that the warmth of wet concrete itself causes the rebar inside to expand, so as the concrete cures, the rebar contracts so its protruding ribs put the surrounding concrete into slight tension.
