Any murders are intolerable, and whilst Liverpool has been in the national news because of the unfortunate shooting of a minor, the actual homicide rate trend in England & Wales has been declining from a high of 1.79 per 100,000 in 2003 to 0.99 per 100,000 in 2021.
That is very low especially by American standards, but it still has a way to go. Part of the solution is to adequately fund the judicial system (as the barrister strikes demonstrate), ensure that police officer numbers expand in line with a growing population (they’ve been going down since the financial crisis), and legislation is changed for petty crime and drugs are decriminalised. ‘pronouns’ are not the issue.
