New electric car manufacturer plans factory, $362M investment in Memphis

California-based Mullen Technologies would build out the facility within the vacant 817,000-square-foot warehouse at 8400 Winchester Road... The Memphis plant would produce 5,000 vehicles in 2024 and scale up to 22,000 by 2027. Mullen has also considered sites in California and Washington but is drawn to Memphis' location in the middle of the U.S. and the existing facility, according to EDGE materials. Mullen recently purchased a 120,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Tunica and said it would employ 200 people there within three years.
