AUSTRALIAN DEVELOPER SUBMITS APPLICATION TO BUILD 435-FOOT MIAMI-DADE CIVIL COURTHOUSE IN DOWNTOWN TO FAA
Quote:
An Australian developer is quickly moving forward with plans to build a civil courthouse for Miami-Dade County in downtown Miami.
Plenary Group was awarded a contract to build the 23-story courthouse late last year, and has said it will break ground in February.
The company is based in Melbourne, Australia – around 10,000 miles away from Miami.
Last week, the developer submitted plans to the Federal Aviation Administration for a permanent courthouse building height of 435 feet above ground, or 443 feet above sea level.
A work schedule sent to the FAA lists a May 2020 start date for construction.
Plenary has incentive to build a quality building as quickly as possible. Miami-Dade won’t begin making payments until the building is open, and subsequent payments will be based on operating metrics.
HOK is the architect for the new tower. Tutor Perini is the contractor.
Completion is expected in early 2024.
