If this is first then where would be the second one? Why the MP is expressing gratitude to so many politicians? What is their individual contribution for shifting the academy to Mangaluru? How did these politicians over come pressure from the parched city real estate mafia to locate this academy in Mangaluru instead of the parched city itself? Still Mangaluru is one step behind Kannur as foundation is not yet laid even after so many years of talk. What about CIPET (integrated/clustered with Plastic Park), NIELIT, Central University for Agriculture? How many more times should we elect this MP to achieve this? I think he has promised more like Central University for Public Health etc. Let us see whether he would get at least a Government Medical College in DK as proposed by the union government for every district.

What is next? Ships? Do they have ship/maritime simulators?

What are the runway length requirements for Cessna & Learjet? Are they going to use Mangalore Airport or their own runway?

Any other college is having or planning for other kind of simulators 1 2 3 like industrial simulators 1 2 3 or urban simulators 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 or Agricultural/Farming Simulators 1 2 (I could not find visual simulators for farming except a few games)? I think we have got some kind of simulator in Father Muller Medical College for Health domain (may not be complete set). In agricultural domain simple simulators like coconut tree climbing simulators can be useful to avoid accidents if rare hazardous conditions (example bird nest in a tree) are identified and climbers are trained on how to face them (of course, robots can replace human climbers in future; still there is a scope for making tree climbing an adventure game) or fishing simulators to face cyclonic conditions and there are scope for marine sports simulators.

The UGC in its guidance document titled ‘good academic research practices’ released in September, 2020 said that the office of research integrity (ORI) must be an integral and permanent unit within the research infrastructure of an institution, where it plays a dual role of coach and enforcer. As a coach, the ORI encourages and enables a culture of research integrity and provides training. As enforcer, it monitors research activity for potential malfeasance and acts swiftly, with fairness and tact, when it notices or has instances of research misconduct brought to its attention.

It will be renamed as the Research Development Consultancy and Patent Cell. The cell will promote research activities, publication, filing for patents and intellectual property rights, and will try to get external funding for research. The cell will encourage teachers to take up consultancy work for industries with 50:50 revenue sharing model with the university.

Mangalore University drops digital evaluation plan of nearly 2.50 lakh answer scripts

Mr. Dharma said that the digital evaluation plan has been shelved mainly due to two reasons. The teachers indicated that as all eligible evaluators are not familiar with the new move, there could be delay in completing evaluation thus, leading to delay in the announcement of results.

Secondly, last month’s floods in Udupi and heavy rain in Kodagu have created issues in uninterrupted internet connectivity and power supply to digital evaluation centres identified in Udupi and Kodagu districts.

In addition, the government’s approval for the new move was awaited. Hence, the plan was dropped.

Why not Mangalore University train evaluators? Uninterrupted internet connectivity will be a issue which will not be solved in near future. Is it possible to do partial digital evaluation on trial basis?
