Well Sreekumar, it is a misconception shared by many. I don't know how it has been formed. I've been to both places in the recent past and that's not true at all. In terms of night life, both cities have to do a lot of catching up with the other states in India, for better or for worse!
Anyways, of late the New Year party scene has been way better in Trivandrum than Cochin. I was at one of the top resorts and it was crazy!
Heard the likes of Amartya Sen also landed up here. In the past, celebs like Richard Gere and Elton John have landed up regularly. In contrast, I saw that whatever celebrations that happened in Cochin were muted by protests against the execution of ol' Saddam.
Lol, I am sure that, except of Tikrit, that must be the only celebration to be affected in the world! Globalisation?
