That would be disappointing. However, here are two thoughts that are keeping me from getting too worked up over this.

1) This wasn't the most amazing proposal put forth. It wasn't particularly tall. And yes, the current garage is ugly, but it's still lined with active ground floor usage, i.e., it's not a totally wasteful lot in its current form.

2) Even if this does fall through, at least it's obvious that the owner has an interest in redeveloping this garage. Which is more than you can say about many of the other parking lot and garage owners who are all to happy to sit back and take the easy money. The first fall back is find another hotel operator. If that doesn't work, the owner can try apartments, condos, or office. The location is too good for just a garage and fortunately the owner is aware of this.
