The dreadful reality of that block is truly a bizarre NYC real estate reality. The old A.S. Beck storefront is the only thing remotely interesting. Razing the whole block for a Penn to Herald Sq pedestrian way is an interesting concept but the land is way too valuable to ever have something like that happen.
