Jesus Christ Babcock has to be gone soon or management is basically saying they have no direction. There is zero excuse for a powerplay consisting of Matthews, Tavares, Marner, and Reilly to be among the worst in the league. The team switched out the special teams coaches this year, and Babcock still sends out the second PP unit 40 seconds in. Fucking inferiorating to watch us get knocked out of the playoffs last year from special teams, and then the next day San Jose scores 4 goals on a single powerplay because they wait for it.... actually played their best players the entire time.

It's pretty clear he's lost the buy-in from the players and his systems were questionable even when everyone was fully invested. I didn't really believe Detroit fans when they warned us what we were getting into but they were absolutely right. He was a great coach at getting the most out of a young and inexperienced team and building accountability from top to bottom, but he falls short at utilizing a more mature squad to their fullest abilities.

You don't build a sportscar and then try and use it to tow heavy loads through the back roads. We should be playing like Colorado or the Pittsburgh teams a couple years ago. Instead Babcock is stuck in a different era, and this time there is no Nick Lidstrom to cover up some glaring deficiencies.
