I'll reserve my judgement for the official design, but I would hate to see S&G resort to a pastiche of the historical towers on the avenue as some sort of requisite homage; you can't discreetly respect them at 1,400 feet. Though, I'm happy to avoid a Central Park Tower situation here (even if that illustration is not coincidentally like the main tower segment of which).
I would rather it touch down as delicately as possible into the local scene, better to defer to the masonry classics in its presence. A soaring, ethereal pin would settle in so nicely among the substantial, sturdy towers already crowding the area. An obelisk form a la Hancock but with an even svelter profile and a crystalline glass facade would be choice.
