I'm understanding why it was done this way though. Times were extremely uncertain and there was a big hole to fill where Hudsons was. The garage design as is would lend potential to a modest midrise design or super basic office building which I've always felt held the site back. That is until Gilbert came along with grand plans of course.

Thanks for helping us with that. I've heard over and over on SSP that the site wouldn't lend itself to a high rise as-built, I just wasn't sure why.
