This hotel was always going to close. Covid, or no covid. It was only a matter of time, similar situation as the Hotel Pennsylvania. It's one of the five sites in the Vanderbilt Corridor area that was rezoned for larger towers a few years ago. It's how One Vanderbilt got built. I don't understand the "shock". Nothing to celebrate, but it was always going to happen.
