It's like somebody was recently suggesting we sould rezone Greewhich village. Say, what?

WRT housing the SoHo rezoning proposal would merely allow vacant lots to be built to comparable density and certain under-developed plots to do the same with caveats. Also let buildings convert to residential from other uses. SoHo may look seamlessly "cute" but there is some one story trash that could easily be gotten rid of for 5 or 6 floor residential buildings that would conform with the neighborhood.

The housing burden shouldn't just fall on the "armpits" of the city. Not letting appropriate density be built in the rich areas is a big problem which is manifesting in now the so-called armpits kicking back at rezoning in their own areas. The end result is simply less housing for everybody.
