Tragic? Yes. Sad? Yes.

But let's not fool ourselves. It is no more tragic here than it is when it happens everywhere else in the city. It's far too often that something like this happens in the city, but if it happens in the polished west side? Shock and awe that this could possibly happen. Only if you live in a bubble of course.

The murder-suicide happened at around 1:30 p.m. on Sunday. Sources tell PEOPLE Patchin brought her young daughter to Manhattan's Hell's Kitchen neighborhood, where the two visited with one of Patchin's friends.

Police sources say Patchin can be seen in surveillance footage on the roof of a building on West 53rd Street. In the video, she is seen climbing over a safety gate, the sources confirm. She then picks up her daughter, Olivia, and jumps 12 stories to the ground.

But they keep putting up these damned buildings all over the city. They were warned that something like this could happen.

A 38-year-old man died after jumping off the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge on Friday, according to an NYPD spokesman.

Emergency personnel received multiple 911 calls around 2 p.m. for a report of a jumper on the Staten Island-bound side of the bridge.

Multiple witnesses stated that they saw the man jump from the bridge.

It goes on and on and on, far too often, far too tragic. But let's not fetishize it when it happens at the Hudson Yards. It happens far too often everywhere. And sadly, that will continue. Get equally outraged when it happens everywhere.
