For a very long time I too thought the spire was straight vertical on one side and tapered on the other sides. Or appeared tilted. I finally waited for great photos from all sides, took two straight edges to the sides of the building and the spire on all four sides and voila..both taper perfectly symmetrical. At least on my little experiment they did.
