Agreed although to be fair the tech (urban maglev) is still in use and continues to some extent mostly in China which as you know seems obsessed with maglev tech as a point of national and global pride and more power to em!

My dream tech scenario would match the Boring Company tunnel tech and diameter of 12' standard tubes with maglev automated trains like the Bogl system to create 24-7 urban subway networks that would run every 90 seconds... is it feasible? Of course! Even at that diameter because that's roughly the size of deep level London tubes and that network is virtually the gold standard for metro design in real world conditions!
