Something the Chinese don't get enough credit for is how much historic preservation they did in areas where Western (I don't want to say colonial...) powers landed and controlled land. Qingdao retains a massive German influence, Shanghai a clear European influence, Hong Kong British, etc.

Not the most impressive skyline but the merging of culture and built form is very interesting IMO. A lot of Chinese cities do this to a scale not seen very frequently.
Chongqing is legitimately insane and I hope to visit someday.
