One thing that makes NYC cool is that it can seem like the city goes on forever when you look down streets. Currently, if you look down JFK in Philly it is obvious that the city "ends" beyond 30th Street Station. This will fill in that space and make you feel like the city fully envelopes you.

when is the last time you looked down JFK? Lancaster Square does exactly what you are suggesting:

I agree these buildings could definitely enhance that feeling of "extending the city"
