It’s just opinions from politicians. Chicago is the 6th most valuable NFL market. A move would be denied by the league. No one wants to lose money
But I wouldn’t be surprised if the process eroded into some exhausting temper tantrum if the government money doesn’t show up. The Bears currently have a sweet position. A facility they pay very little money to play, an administration that’s willing to correct design mistakes to extend the lifespan of their own municipal structure and to augment the area with more shopping, residential, transit improvements and potentially a sportsbook.
I just don’t understand the allure of full control of a stadium in the suburbs. Like getting a B list of concerts and RV shows during the off-season. Would those profits outweigh all the liabilities?
So-Fi stadium is the high water mark that teams wish they could achieve, but no one ever will.
