Pretty complicated. But in my experience driving in China, highways are pretty well signposted, so it'd probably be a piece of cake to drive through. Not only that, but Chinese navigation apps also include lane guidance, so even if you miss a sign, or think the signs are confusing, the navigation app won't have a problem telling you which way to go.
