My first thought is that it's a mistake to have two separate Amtrak stations, but consolidating at Michigan Central makes the Wolverine routing to Pontiac pretty awkward. The current routing works well and gives Oakland County a one-seat ride to Chicago, not just Detroit.
I think the ideal future has more Wolverine trains, with some going to Michigan Central and some going to New Center/Pontiac. Then you could get an overlay of commuter rail from Pontiac-New Center-Michigan Central, and from Ann Arbor to Michigan Central. Add a streetcar or people-mover extension to connect Michigan Central to downtown the way the QLine connects to New Center, and that's a pretty robust transit network.
