DOWNTOWN MIAMI’S 70-STORY OKAN TOWER WILL BREAK GROUND IN JANUARY, DEVELOPER ANNOUNCES

Okan Tower is just months away from beginning construction, and is set to become the tallest building Miami has ever seen.

Groundbreaking for the 70-story tower is set for January, developer Bekir Okan announced in a video released on Instagram yesterday.

Construction will take about four years to complete, he added.

Permitting for the tower is now underway, Okan said. City records show that a construction permit was filed for in September and is being reviewed by Building Department officials.

Okan Tower will become the tallest in Miami upon completion, at 890 feet above ground.

A Hilton hotel with 316 rooms will be located on levels 14 to 30. Above that will be 399 multifamily units (condo and condo-hotel), from level 36 to level 70. Office space will be located on level 31 to 34, with ground floor retail.

Next door to Okan, foundation work for two 53-story towers is already underway. Developer Melo Group is building the Downtown 5th apartment buildings there.

In the video, developer Bekir Okan said that he loves the city. “I’ve traveled the world, but my favorite place is Miami,” he said.
