I found this detail of the Western Avenue gates of Berkeley Square in the background of a random USC shot. The photographed is dated 1931, before the gates were closed
at the east end to prevent the street from being used as a shortcut. (Remember when we were all upset a few years ago when USC revamped its database? Here's another example
of the amazing things that can be discovered with the zoom feature....)
