You are 100% correct. The train also loses a lot of time meandering through the urban areas. It takes 20 minutes to exit Halifax station to Rockingham. It is also 10mph through Truro. 30mph through Amherst and Sackville. Those are where the biggest gains could be made with infrastructure improvements.
