Too often, London is in the news for racism
 

I agree that it happens too much, but it means that people are calling it out and it is getting talked about when they do. Just because you don't hear about people calling out racism in other places doesn't mean racist things aren't happening.

Are we really in the news that often though? Sure, it's a CBC local story that will end up on the national news website where barely anyone will click on it, but is London any worse than other cities our size? We have a kid from Strathroy move to London and wipe out a Muslim family and we make international news for that, but was that a systemic London problem? We hear about our own stupid idiots at a grocery store or something, but I don't think that sets us apart, really. We just don't hear about these type of things elsewhere because they just aren't really big news.

The banana tossed on the ice when a black player skated onto the rink.
A history of racist candidates running for mayor.

it does seem to happen here proportionately more than other cities. Or maybe it doesn't, but more than a few folk out there seem to think so.
