So amazing a PC majority. I guess we wont get much money because London decided to get so many NDP. Then again we didn't get much with the Liberals.

I also can't wait to uncover all the scandals Wynne had. I don't feel bad for her at all.

Doug Ford is all talk, he did not really have the numbers to back up a lot of his commitments.

For London, I don't think he said much about the BRT plan. As far as I know he is leaving it up to the city to decide which is probably going to be the biggest ballot issue next election.

High speed rail still on the table?

What else will London get? What could get cut? Stay tuned to find out...

They simply can't understand that none of it is free. It all costs money. Whether it is via Taxes, User Fees or Credit.

Someone on this forum even said that Governments can keep on borrowing and never have to pay it back and that there is no consequence for that policy.

City of Detroit, Greece are examples of what can happen to governments that behave that way. And the citizens suffer for it.

The PCs promised they wouldn't cut, but also promised to spend between 9 and 40 billion (depending on how you add up the vague numbers they gave, since they don't have a costed platform). So they're going to add to the debt, too.

Greece has a debt to GDP ratio well over 180% and lenders have declined to lend to them. Ontario's debt to GDP ratio is less than 50% (Ontario's GDP is more than 3 times that of Greece and our debt is equal in total amount, so we have one third of the debt load they have) and lenders are still apparently very willing to give us money. Ontario doesn't even have the largest debt to GDP ratio in Canada—Newfoundland, Quebec, and New Brunswick all have more debt relative to GDP. So to compare us to Greece is disingenuous at best and outright misleading, malicious scaremongering at worst. Most people repeating that claim are only showing off their ignorance, not their awareness.

So, either the PCs won't reduce our debt, or they won't make good on their spending promises. Which is it? Which do you want it to be?

And this is why there isn't a centrist party in Ontario anymore. As a centrist voter I didn't like that I had to make a choice between left and right this election. No party really appealed to me.

It's just too hard to balance the books these days. You either have to cut and/or create new taxes, or just ignore the debt and keep digging deeper.

Ford and the PCs took the 'easy way' by not releasing a costed platform. They were banking on voters that would elect them solely based on the fact that they are not the government and that they will get a tax break, all without cutting services. It worked.

Who knows maybe it's possible but I'm shaking my head until I see the numbers. I'll give them a shot, they were elected fairly after all. I'm really saddened by all this negativity on the left and douchebaggery on the right - it's just so projected these days due to social media.

This was largely how I felt as well, I really thought about tossing out my vote but did not end up doing that.

None of the financials really added up, even the NDP who did try and give more information as to how they would accomplish some things was far fetched without cuts not mentioned

I'd really like to hear opinions of how you think the PCs have governed over the past year and a bit.

For me, it's pretty much what I expected. A party with no platform cuts and slashes social services for the most vulnerable, setting us up for privatization. I'd also love to know how much this province is spending on legal fees this year.

Simply put, Ontario got what it deserved.

Total crap. How the government lost 42 million on weed sales is beyond me. Because they have this stupid ass lottery system. Ontario is the biggest province and has half of Canada's population, why are we only giving out permits to like 10 stores a year? Other provinces have stores everywhere, we are so behind. This is why I'll still buy my weed from BC, better quality and better service than the government. Also, all the cuts is ridiculous. My former high school was supposed to have its grand opening this year for their new building. Thanks to Doug ford, they still have no funding, and the old school is still there rotting away, when a new school is desperately needed. They still have flooding damages from when I went there in 2013.

The loss on pot sales was for less than 6 months of sales, and I'm sure all the startup costs spent over the year or so before legalization was all lumped into that short period as well.

The correct path should have been to license retailers and stay completely out of the retail business and collect the taxes and fees.

The same thing should be done with the LCBO. Ontario would make far more NET without OPSEU based LCBO's, real estate costs, retail operation costs, pensions, labour costs etc.

Or it's your strawman. Socialists know where the money comes from - The people who have benefited the most from the government.

Largely taxes. Ontario has minimum prices for alcohol.
