Coming to Ottawa tomorrow - suggestions
Haven't been in 22 years... Anything on the do not miss for attractions, food, pub scene?
Staying downtown golden tri. War musee, Civilization, byward, glebe, maybe westboro, a dinner in Chelsea 4 work dinners out at some old and new hot spots, can't recall names, will post. Cocktails Laurier and Elgin Thanks in advance  Ian |
Are you budget conscious or relatively care free in that regard?
Don't miss Art Is In bakery...grab yourself quite probably the best almond croissant on the planet. There's a restaurant called Union Local 613 downtown. While I hear the resto itself is quite good (never eaten there), they have a great speakeasy downstairs. It can be tough to get in because it's pretty small, but the vibe and setting is amazing, and the drinks, while a bit pricey, are properly stiff. Infinitely more to describe but it depends on your interests and budget... |
Lansdowne is also a cool spot. Joey and Local are the most popular restaurants, but there are others too. Sporting Life is a pretty cool store for that type of apparel. If you're a CFL fan, the Redblacks host the Alouettes at Lansdowne on Thursday and you can try to get yourself in for that.

In the Byward Market, grab yourself some gelato at Piccolo Grande. Dinner at Navarra is great (owner is former Top Chef Canada winner). Don't miss the courtyard in behind Social/Black Tomato, weather permitting. If you like BBQ, try Smoque Shack.
In Westboro, grab breakfast/lunch at Baker Street cafe. Unbeatable. In little Italy (Preston Street), grab a coffee/dessert at Simply Biscotti...or Nutty Greek. Drinks at Moonroom. If money is no issue, get dinner at Atelier. Do the wine pairing. You'll pay for this meal but it will be memorable. |
Best shopping is at Rideau Centre. Outlet shopping is available at Tanger, which is a hike from downtown.

Many thanks!
Not on a budget, but not an open card either. Sounds like some great suggestions, appreciated. |

My wife hosts out of towners and foreigners from time to time for her work, and this is where she always takes them. If I am lucky sometimes I get to tag along! |
