22nd Annual Lilac Festival (2011)
22nd ANNUAL LILAC FESTIVAL
Post your pics of the festival here. :) |
Great shots Rico. I wasn't able to get down there this year, glad you could capture some photos.
|
A lot of cute blondes in that city. Probs the wives/mistresses of all the millionaires in that city though. :P
|
I tossed some of mine on to my blog. I have no idea how to export them to here, so I'll leave a link...

I was up in Calgary this weekend and went to the festival. It's grown much bigger than the last time I went. I would put attendance at 100k-150k.
|
I wouldn't let my blond sister wives go to the Lilac Fest. I made them stay home and count my money.

Sister wives? Are you a polygamist? haha :haha: |

Bumping this in case anyone else has some lilac fetival photos to add.
|
I wasn't feeling well yesterday so I missed it. Looks like it was a good one though. Perfect weather for it.
|
Sad I didn't make it down there (despite living pretty much beside it, I was stuck out in Shepard all afternoon). CPS estimate was 120,000 people I believe I saw on twitter
|
I went down and checked it out. I had actually forgotten about it until I saw someone tweet about Lilac Fest, and lucky for me there was still plenty of time for me to walk down. On the way out the door I thought "Oh, I should bring my camera. Ah forget it, there will be tons of photos posted on SSP." Looks like a lot of the photographers I had thought would make it down didn't. It was perfect weather this year.
I think it's time for the event to expand a few blocks. Maybe go to 12th Ave. to the north (it ended at 13th) and expand a block or two in each direction on 17th Ave. |
We were down there for a few hours, didn't bring the camera though.
|
This reminds of the stampede, now if only the stampede would come a bit sooner....
|
I had a booth this year (Como Designs) Frink came in and introduced himself and witty stopped in as well! It was busy! Had a great response though!
Cheers, surferguy |

The other big event this Sunday May 29th was Calgary's Scotiabank Marathon. I heard there were 9800 runners this year. The volunteers and organizers did a fantastic job and weather was ideal (~+5C and warming through the race)!
