I love the idea but not so much the buildings, portland needs a icon

Yuk is right. All of a sudden Portland would look like Charlotte. I'd much rather have good infill and scaled buildings than ego-driven towers. Did you pursposely choose the ugliest buildings possible?

I agree with you guys, of course, but I think it's funny at the same time. I'd like to see some more infill built on the smaller (1/3 - 1/6 - 1/4 block lots) 1-story buildings and parking lots in between existing historic buildings instead of tower construction tear 'em down and erect a massive blocky tower like these. A bunch of ~20 story towers ala the Benson would fit really well also.

If I had time, I'd try to whip up one as well... but I don't. =(

The footprints of these buildings look huge. I'd love to see a few 500'-700'+ point towers.

^good point these towers would be no where near as bulkey on our 200' blocks

just an FYI, I posted this image because I thought it was interesting. I'm not advocating for the towers, and the person that did sketch this up is not a Portlander. If I had done the photoshopping I would have tried to make whatever towers choosen, fit in with our block sizes. However, I am intrigued even if these are the wrong towers for Portland.

It's a fun rendering. I believe some are actualized and some are conceptual, but the structure on the far right is, hopefully, distorted, or folks are going to have a rough time keeping their furniture in place.

I love tall buildings but i think portland could do better than that when it comes to design. Barring the 2 buildings on the left, the rest look like they belong in houston. Height limits, unfortunately, won't be changing anytime soon. Portland does need some new buildings on the skyline tho. Someone should photoshop the burj dubai in just to see what it looks like :) haha

as mark said... it's conceptual not realistic. the buildings in the pic may be too wide (and ugly), but the image of taller towers downtown is rather pleasant.

I like the 2 towers to the right of KOIN & Wells Fargo. The farther one looks like an old tower here in SF - the Russ Building.

For some reason I do not think the top rendering is too far fetched. Ten years ago, who would have imagined the transfermation that Portland was to experience during the next ten year time period . Its coming...................
