Went to the Evans Churchill community meeting tonight, some exciting developments happening:
Cambria Hotel (NE corner 3rd st/Portland) is breaking ground now and is expected to be completed this time next year New ASU lab building at 4th and Garfield is expected to start utility relocation in the following weeks. McKinley is expected to close as well between 4th and 5th st I believe. Yee-ha! The alleyway between the Churchill and 2nd St will be activated with lights and murals. True North will acquire the Knipe House in 30 or so days. They want to activate it first before developing the rest of the lot. They are also planning to demo 1015 N 1st St on Oct 1st for their RFP. Expect another APS openhouse in the near future for narrowing down the location of the new substation. |

Looks like the banner hospital has a few decent sized office buildings and garages garages over the next few decades.

Please say Creative House is happening!!!!!!!!

From my understanding, Creative House and RO2 are two different proposals.
The Creative House proposed location would be at the NW corner of Roosevelt and 2nd. RO2 would be at the SW corner of 2nd and Portland. Creative House would be around 300' as shown on the Davis Experience website. RO2 will be at a similar height to the Stewart (around 240'-245'ish) with 19 floors. Creative House did actually start off as RO2 a couple years ago, but it morphed into it's current rendering on the Davis Experience website. Not sure why they changed up the names, locations, etc. I'm also not sure how real Creative House's proposal is. I do think the RAA and locals would have a conniption fit with a 300' tower directly on Roosevelt IMO. But Creative House is a good looking design. I hope RO2 is similar. |

Capital Market at Capital Place on 12th and Jefferson is closing, the sign on their door states a lack of foot traffic as the culprit. It’s a shame, this is the 2nd neighborhood market this building has held which has gone out of business.
The Eastlake Park area is weird because it’s partially walkable and so close to downtown but partially hostile to pedestrians as well. It has historic buildings and a few corners that feel urban but has plenty of driveways and lacks shade or really any reason to be there to welcome pedestrians. There’s so many empty buildings with ample parking, but businesses just can’t hold their own here unless they’re a law office. Why has Eastlake Park been left out in this apartment boom? |
