TORONTO | 11 Bay Street | 270M/886 FT | 54 FLOORS

Bit disappointed given this was designed by HPA who gave us One Yonge Street. And this is proposed on a waterfront site (Westin Conference Centre).

MODS: no idea why the thread title keeps re-formatting into lower-case.

It can't be all caps. You have to have at least one letter lowercase.

I'm guessing an office tower won't be built anytime soon due to the push towards telecommuting or is it different in Canada?

Nice looking office building.... Close to 900 feet! Similar to 110 Wacker in Chicago!

Very nice!

There are rumours around that a few big office buildings in the proposal stage right now are close to finalizing lead tenants, but we’ll have to wait and see. Toronto’s office market has something like a 2% vacancy rate.

Any hints? I'd be curious to know if CC3 is moving forward (despite the dumbed-down design). Architectural top of CC3 is 302m plus an anorexic spire up to 376m. 3 supertalls underway at the same time (in one canuck city) would be a record that would stand for a long time.

Betting it might be CIBC Square 2 to start next or The Hub given recent news/revisions (258m + cheater bird-box contraption and flagpole/spire up to 304m). Slight chance it could be BIG's Union Centre.

Nice. Like the setbacks.

So if what I'm seeing is correct, and that the vertical mullion elements are a gold color, and the horizontal bands are black, this is going to be amazing.

The only caveat being that render robots (graphic designers) sometimes seem as trust-worthy as another sketchy vocation.

^ Ha! Yeah, the devil will be in the finished project. I remain hopeful, though.

@colemonkee
I may have to walk back my wise crack above (this time). A closer look does suggest the gold/bronze and black/dark mullion colour palette you had suggested.

^ This is making me even more excited about this one. What I love about it is the contrast it will have with all of the blue and fritted glass balcony towers that have gone up in the immediate vicinity over the last ~7-8 years.

Damn that's a shame. I really liked this one.

This was apparently almost about to get Amazon signed on as the lead tenant back in 2020, before all the tech layoffs happened.. I imagine most of the big office proposals in the city are dead in the water at this point as my understanding was that they were all chasing tech tenants who as we all know have all dried up recently with huge rounds of layoffs.

This one is a particular shame as it's construction was going to help finance a new ferry terminal.

Gresto Apr 2, 2023 4:01 PM

Something substantial will be erected there, just not of the office sort.

Are we talking about The Hub? If so, that is very unfortunate. I hope it isn't another condo. We need lots of housing but the southcore has been overwhelmed by residential and we're losing opportunities for office in prime locations close to Union. The more empty lots taken off the table, the more pressure there will be to do silly facadism that disrespects historic buildings once office demand increases.

This site is to the southeast of The Hub, as seen in this render. 11 Bay is in orange. The Hub is to its left.
