Yeah the stuff east of Plymouth is basically fine (although a street or two needs to be shoehorned in and something should be done about the dead streetwall on State). The stuff west of Plymouth is awful.

I know the stats say that Nema is only ~170' taller than OMP, but the difference looks larger in real life, for whatever reason.

It's probably the tapering setback massing of Nema that make it soar higher than it is, visually.

Is that Armour Square Park? Is that shot from inside the ballpark? It's a great angle.

The ramps at Comiskey...sorry....the G spot....(Guaranteed Rate Field) have one of my favorite views of the skyline.

Not really, rowhouse/terrace houses were never common in communist places like China or the Eastern Bloc. By their nature they include private yards, which is too bourgeois for the communists to stomach, and frankly too inefficient for state-run housing. The architecture is boxy, but that in itself isn't a communist thing.

If anything, Dearborn Park reminds me of English or at least Anglosphere urban renewal projects, like this council housing or just regular terrace houses around London. Or, closer to home, places like Lafayette Park in Detroit or IM Pei's townhouses in Hyde Park - those are just better quality examples of the same ideas.

The massing from NEMA reminds me of old school art deco buildings, in that it has the ability to make the building look larger or "grander" than it actually is.

Too much focus on the fitness amenities, but so far, I'm a fan of it. Makes me wish (a) they were instead condos and (b) I could afford to live in them if they were. If they ever de-convert, this building is my #1 place I'd want to call home.

My guess is they are going for a super young crowd, targeting the 25-40 group with those types of amenities. NEMA is a San Fran brand in the sense of inspiration, right? Logical approach in that case to mimic their approach to getting young people to fork over 40% of their paychecks on aesthetics. Looks to be working too

I Live in the building and it's actually more of a 30-40 crowd that I've seen so far in the building. Not many people that I've seen that I say are in their 20s.
Also, I snap some photos this weekend and post but most of the amenities aren't done yet. Dog park & pet spa, golf simulator, game room, etc all aren't open yet. Its basically just the fitness center, co-working space and pool deck that is open.

yeah I'd be shocked to see too many people in their 20s in a building like this - new, high end, etc.

I'd expect to see that age group in a ramshackle walk up in ravenswood paying $850 per person per month.
