Hopefully I didn't stir you up thinking I'm making misogynistic remarks. I just don't see how "woman owned" makes me think good or bad of any business, it's just a random and irrelevant fact. Why do I care about the sex of the owner? Maybe she could try the sales approach of boasting about how good the beer is and what accolades it's won.

I went to whining pig and had two of this Greenwood places beer and they werent good.

I was supporting your comment, take it down like 27 notches bud.

Revolver Records closes downtown Phoenix store after 11 years

https://www.azcentral.com/story/ente...rs/2542280002/

Looks like it's finally shutting down. Doesn't sound like an imminent land sale or something like that so I wonder what the future holds for this space/lot?

gymratmanaz Jan 11, 2019 6:43 PM

It is a killer location for something bigger! Sorry to see a fun local business shutter.... wish they would relocate instead.

Agreed and sounds like he owns a similar concept (coffee + record store) on 48th St and Thomas

Not surprising that land is way too valuable for a niche record store, landlord probably raised the rent to be unaffordable or told them they arent going to renew the lease.

I hate to see the store go, but that land and building were disgusting. It looked like a crack house.

Being vacant isn't going to make it look like less of a "crack house".

No, but it might give the landlord incentive to sell.:fingerscrossed:

APS bought that lot in December.

It's probably going to be an expansion to the sub station.

I was under the impression they wanted to move the sub station? Thought I had read that about a year ago. It's already a thorn in the area. I hope it's not expanded.

Not sure why else they would have bought it...

Hotel Renovations

https://www.bizjournals.com/phoenix/...operators.html

Looking at this week’s lis of the Phoenix region's largest hotels and resorts t, not much has changed in terms of the region’s largest hotels during the past 10 years.

While nothing major has been built during the past decade, hotels have spent tens of millions of dollars renovating their facilities, and that process hasn’t stopped. Here’s what four local hotel officials had to say about what they have done or are planning:

“Complete guest room and public space renovation scheduled to start in May 2019.” — Dan Boyer, director of sales and marketing, Sheraton Grand Phoenix

“Hotel will be renovating in 2019 — lobby, guest rooms, additional meeting space, restaurant and market.” — Danyell Schastny, director of sales and marketing, Hyatt Regency Phoenix

“We just completed guest room and lobby renovations, with meeting space scheduled for 2019.” — Alison Brooks, marketing manager, Tempe Mission Palms

“We are constantly evaluating the property, and make renovations as needed.” — Robb McCreary, hotel director, Talking Stick Resort

Discussion on downtown hotel renovations were mentioned previously, this article covers a few.

Dog Haus Taking Over Old Charming Charlie's Spot in CityScape

Hot dogs and beer — what’s not to love? Downtown diners will soon have a new option for lunch and dinner when Dog Haus Biergarten opens at CityScape Phoenix. Located in the former Charming Charlie space, the California-based concept serves a variety of hot dogs, sausages and burgers (with several plant-based options, too). And of course, there will be beer.

I tried Dog Haus once at its Yuma location. It's pretty good -- sort of like a chain version of Short Leash. Since Short Leash left downtown for Melrose, I guess Dog Haus will fill that niche.

There's a coffee shop going in at colliers center at 3rd st & Washington. I belive it's called coffee company but don't quote me.

haux Jan 13, 2019 8:07 PM

I walked by The Link today to get a closer look at its progress. It's topped off, there's more glass going in, and there are some more colors appearing.

I guess a new brewery is on its way to Roosevelt Row.

Last night, Greenwood Brewing achieved its Kickstarter goal of $68,000 and plans to open a brewery on 5th St and Roosevelt, integrating itself into the Made boutique and Eye Lounge while also infilling the small empty lot on the S. side of Roosevelt where 3 shipping containers currently are. All in all, good news for beer drinkers and Downtown continues to evolve into an after hours destination
