I suppose I'll make a rap:

I rise on

I rise on

I rise on

I rise for my city, rise-on for my city
I rise for my city, rise-on for my city
I rise for my city, rise-on for my city
I rise for my city, rise-on for my city

When they see me on the NJ Turnpike, they say "towers on some other level"

Send them fake ass towers runnin' straight back to the drawing board

Me, I'm in my pedestal, that's right, I work for Jamie Dimon

This facade is not a fraud, call that shining on them other towers

Wear a lot of Foster and Partners, 270 Park don't do Gene Kaufman

If you want it, come and see it, you know I stay super tall

NY Got 99 problems but 25 supertalls ain't one

Shining on these towers, we retain our epitome

Now I go back to steel and beams, I rise on while others sleep

I rise for my city, rise-on for my city
I rise for my city, rise-on for my city
I rise for my city, rise-on for my city

There’s only one rapper that I like (below), but I’m impressed with your lyrics, Chris. Therefore, I like two rappers now.

Foster and Jamie D are giving us an amazing Christmas present. Hopefully, Foster and Ken Griffen will give us another.

Merry Christmas, everyone!

May this new year bring us a beautiful, glassy facade for this tower.

It’s in the Proposals section.

I’m sure it’s been talked about, but what’s the general consensus of all these supertalls covering up the Chrysler Building?

chris08876 Jan 7, 2023 4:57 PM

^^^

People are more riled up about developments covering the ESB, especially from portions of Brooklyn. Washington and Water Street in Dumbo, with the LES towers once they rise covering the view of the ESB as seen from the Manhattan Bridge.

The Chrysler building has always been a niche in terms of folks worrying about it, its always been overshadowed by the larger ESB.

Fortunately, 270 Park and 175 Park will be worthy towers and of high quality to somewhat negate the historical moment of Chrysler being blocked or not as noticeable.

I haven't, in my experience, seen that much commotion over Chrysler but discussions have been had over the ESB. Heated at times.

The Chrysler building hasn’t been covered up, and won’t be even after 175 Park is built. Now, being dwarfed in height is a different story. But a city’s priority shouldn’t be trying to hamper development to preseve as tallest a building constructed in 1930 (now nearly a hundred years ago). If anything, it should continue building, a process that gave us the Chrysler Building in the first place. There are many buildings on the skyline that have lost height prominence - the Flatiron, Woolworth, even the MetLife. And as Chris mentioned, the Empire State itself is losing that, or what’s left if it.

A great City gave us the Chrysler, because they were building. And a great City should continue to be great. (Some say it’ll be great if they ever finish it). But New York is never done. It evolves. So rather than let Park Avenue die, it’s being renewed today with new energy and skyscrapers. We weren’t around to see the last renewal of Park Avenue, but we actually get to witness it today. It’s very exciting, and I consider myself lucky to be here at this time.

The Chrysler Building is having it's observation deck closed since 1945 reopened to the public. Certainly wish 270 Park Avenue and 175 Park Avenue had public observation decks as well.

:haha::haha::haha: another random post about observation decks from this account. You're persistent, I'll give you that.

mrnyc Jan 7, 2023 10:34 PM

i mean why not every single building in manhattan open an observation deck?

it should be a city law.

;)

dropdeaded209 Jan 8, 2023 1:20 PM

lol yeah that's exactly what the city really needs---another law!

:multibow

EXACTLY! I'm all for preserving the likes of Chrysler and ESB for future generations, but there comes a time when the crown for "tallest" should be passed down to future buildings that continue to push the limits on how tall a building can be.

If it weren't for such a pursuit for taller and bigger buildings, we'd all still be going bonkers over the Flatiron Building and would have a city without the hundreds of existing skyscrapers for the sake of not wanting to top a building that's 100+ years old :uhh:

"No king rules forever". Sooner or later, even the likes of One Vanderbilt and 1WTC would have to look up to future "megatalls". Until that time comes, let's enjoy things for what they are, not for what they aren't
