Epic shot.... |
I always love the glass on these new buildings when it first gets installed. Smooth and clear like a Jolly Rancher.

^Nice set.
They're currently on the 33rd floor, which means about 29 more to go, or 261 feet plus roof/parapet, assuming 9' floor-to-floor. This is really going to stand out. |
This thing does a great job terminating the vista while looking North down S. Wacker Dr. From the Willis its so nice to see it going up.
Its like it was 'planned' that way or something.... http://www.placemakers.com/2012/04/1...minated-vista/ |

Can you imagine that? A high rise with glass growing with it instead of floundering 80 stories below on just one or one and a half side of the building [1/8th of it BTW] in the deepest polar vortex ever recorded in mankind since the ice age. Who was the master mind behind glass going up from the incredible bulk of the concrete core and the end of the floor plates ? I suspect McHugh was not involved in this project? |
Credit to Hines for hiring a reputable third party glass company and for spending the money on quality curtain wall.

Seriously though, you gotta wonder how many developers are going to think twice before accepting a low bid from McHugh after that fiasco...
