My stalled comment was not in response to what I thought, but a response to what a particular forumer feels that many projects (Union, Alta Thomas, 4th/McKinley, Edison, etc.) have either stalled or are dead. Funny how said projects are all of a sudden springing to action these last few couple of weeks.

The only one I myself think may be a 50/50 shot at this point is Central Station. Other than that, I think most of the developments will happen.

Exactly. There are so many reasons why a project stalls or takes some time. Commercial real estate is not like residential as there are more hoops, permits, financial issues and the like. Remember when everyone was thinking Union was dead, dead, dead? Shit just takes time.

Anyone have pictures of the Union? I haven't been by in a while.

PHX31 Mar 30, 2016 5:03 PM

/\ Last I went by (one week ago exactly) framing was going up on the second floor. So it's not just a few masonry columns and some steel anymore, construction will likely seem like it is speeding up. Sorry, no pictures.

Just so happens I took one yesterday!

I also took update pics of EnHance and Cornish Pasty which is going to look fantastic! I wish they would restore the rest of the building like this.

Thanks for the pic of the Union. It's looking really good. It looks like the elevator core is up to 5 floors. Did I count correct?

Now if only the radio station building across the street were replaced with something a little more street oriented we'd have a very urban intersection.

Im sure that radio station wont be with us for too many more years. That land is far more valuable than a radio station.

It would be pretty awesome to have the building replaced with a mixed-use building that still housed the station, but that's probably a pipe dream. Residential on top, radio below, and retail ground level.

I've long had fantasies of a "CBS Tower" with KPHO's studios possibly at ground level, the radio stations, general office, and apartments directly fronting the Roosevelt light rail station with some Times Square-level digital displays. Move the power substation under it and you would completely open that plaza area.

How cool would that be?

They're tearing the fence down at 4/mckinley right now... Hmm I'll see if I can get an answer as to why.

My guess would be to start construction soon. Their Townhomes on 3rd didn't have a fence during construction, so I would imagine they wouldn't for this either.

I would walk by there on a daily basis...they had a fence up :) (not that matters anyways). But I hope it's to start construction as well

Checked my pic archive and you are indeed correct. My bad. I've been wrong before ;)

While cool, pretty unlikely. The radio stations are apparently owned by CBS Radio but KPHO is a CBS affiliate, owned by Meredith Corporation, who also owns Channel 3 (KTVK). For years KPHO was located in a building that faced I-17 south of Indian School, but they moved in with KTVK on 7th Ave north of Missouri after Meredith bought KTVK.

The Park Restaurant to Open at The Collier Center in Downtown Phoenix

Couples new updates on "The Park", the space formerly occupied by Stoudemire's at Collier's.

The new restaurant will open in the space most recently occupied by former Phoenix Suns player Amare Stoudemire’s restaurant, which closed several years ago. Richard, CEO of the marketing agency BRANDiT, says the 11,000-square-foot space will be park-themed, featuring two “very large museum-quality expensive trees” and a full stage for live music.

The Park has also formed a partnership with Tempe's Pedal Haus brewery and will offer self-serve beer. Customers will be able to pour their own brews and pay by the ounce through high-tech wristbands.

Coyotes News

Looks like Phoenix may not exactly be out of the running just yet. I wonder if there still could be a potential joint ASU/Coyotes venture for the Downtown Phoenix campus?

Hey guys,

I'm moving to PHX next month and couldn't be more excited.

I've been on Skyscraperpage for some time posting mostly in the San Diego thread.

Looking forward to learning more about what's happening in Phoenix.

A lot is happening Spoonman!

PHX is a great place to be right now, rapidly changing and growing, really developing into its own right around us as we speak. I like to think Phoenix is a lot like LA was after WW2, new, rapidly growing identity just being established.

Great time to be here.

Welcome! What part of town are you moving to?

There is a lot going on, not nearly as much as San Diego has seen, but a big ball seems to be rolling here.

Two condo's at Edison Midtown closed on MLS yesterday, so I think it's safe to say they're a go. $325k for a 1014 sf unit and $331k for a 1112 sf unit.
