Well it's o er 150' taller than 1MP so it may as well be a supertall from a skyline impact perspective. This thing will be more visible than Vista from almost all angles except from the East and North. And you almost never see the skyline from due East and Vista will also be lost in the clutter from the North.

That's true and if all goes well and the second tower of this development gets build, that one looks to be over 1000' and will have an even greater impact on the south loop skyline.

there is no way the second tower goes over 1000 feet. zoning limits the height of the ceiling in the highest occupied space to 900 feet. There can be mechanical spaces above that, but there won't be 100 feet of mechanical spaces.

I was just guessing either way it will be very close.

I wish these Case rigs were clearly numbered. I'm curious if this project's start date was contingent upon Case completing their work at Vista. Whatever the case, it's certainly nice to have them boys busy. Bananas; on your mark, get set....

I have a feeling those rigs are coming straight over from the Vista site. If you look at OfficeWorker's photos in the Vista thread you can see that half the blue cran was still on site at about the time Bvic shot the partial delivery of the blue crane above. There is no way Case is shipping one big blue rig out to some storage yard while stimultaniously delivering another less than a mile away. Construction is all about logistics and I'm sure Case is a pro at this type of marshalling of resources. Hopefully they will be popping on over to 1000 S Michigan or WPW next!

Great news on this starting. I think your guesses are right as it does look like the same crane. Case I think stores equipment west of O'Hare in Itasca if I remember correctly.

^^I'm guessing Essex before 1000 S Michigan. Case was awarded the caissons on Essex and will start in early March. Not sure about start date for WPE.

1000 S. Michigan still needs to market condos. If it happens, that project is at least one year out.

that switch gets flipped as soon as one of the caisson rigs tastes its first bite of earth.

but now that the Case rigs are physically on site and being assembled, that formality is just a matter of days away (probably someday next week).

it's ok to now think of this project as "under construction", we're just construction nerds here at SSP who are sticklers for the official rules.

a valid argument could also be made that a project is "under construction" from the moment its construction loan closes, because once that's achieved, the rest is a forgone conclusion.

Would I be correct in thinking that Vista Tower and 1200 S Indiana should be topping out at about the same time if things go to schedule?

I would expect 1200 S Indiana to top of first way earlier, the first 20 floors or so on Vista are gonna take a long as hell time to complete due to the size of the site. I could be wrong, but Vista shouldn't even be topped off until mid-late 2018

Definitely Essex prior to 1000 South.....my question is will Essex beat 1326 South to the punch? Do you know if Case also has that foundation job (Walsh is the GC)?

Good question, Essex has 2 months of garage demo to finish before drilling can start. 1326 does not have the same constraint though last I heard a couple months ago they were over budget. Essex is on budget, loan closed, just awaiting moratorium to be completed next week to get moving.

I'm not familiar with the mechanical rentals. How much equipment does Case have? I imagine those rigs being way to valubale to just sit in a warehouse if the market is this hot. If they have a surge of say 5 major projects going on with 3 rigs a piece to do they bring in out of state machines or do they strictley schedule their machines from building to building. I know this has been discussed before but it just baffles me that Case is everywhere all the time.

Looked to me like they were getting a second mobile crane set up and all the other prep that one could imagine was done, so this one should be underway and officially started next week!

Floor 76 is the highest residential level.
