Project #3022598: Land Use Application to allow a 24-story, 95 unit assisted living facility and 150 unit apartment building with retail at ground level. Parking for 190 vehicles provided below grade. Existing structures and parking lot to be demolished.

Planned 24-story tower would cater to seniors

The team behind a 24-story tower proposed for First Hill will update a Seattle design review board on its latest plans this week.

Columbia Pacific Advisors wants to build a 243-unit residential project that would cater to seniors. The tower would have units for independent living, assisted living and memory care.

The half-block site is at 620 Terry Ave., between James and Cherry streets.

The tower would sit atop a four-story podium, according to architectural documents filed with the city. The proposal also calls for 132 underground parking spaces and a retail space at the corner of Terry and James.

The 243-unit residential project would offer independent living, assisted living and memory care.

Parking often gets reduced from the original plan. Projects generally start the land use permit process with the largest potential amount of parking, then confirm or reduce from there.

In this case it might also have extra parking for the Archdiocese. I believe the original plan had that, and I suspect the new one might. It's still pretty high given that a lot of residents won't be drivers and most of the workers will be transit users (presumably low-paid jobs).

Operator Leisure Care is now leasing up the apartments, which start at $4,950 a month for independent living, $7,050 for assisted living and $10,000 for memory care. Leisure Care says assisted-living services can be added to any apartment, at any time.

Apartments include 308- to 750-square-foot studios; 643- to 860-square-foot one-bedrooms; and 1,211- to 1,739-square-foot two-bedrooms with two baths. Twelve of the two-bedroom units are penthouses. Some studios are paired to share bathrooms.

Leisure Care upped the amenities at Murano: a bar with rooftop deck, fine dining restaurant, casual dining restaurant, bistro and wine bar, another bar and lounge, two outdoor terraces for dining, a private room for family and guests, two-level parking garage with valet service, golf simulator, art studio, tech lounge, and game room with billiards, shuffleboard and card tables.
