Holy crap that thing is ugly. It looks like something a 5 year old would create with a bunch of cardboard boxes..

NYguy May 23, 2017 9:04 PM

I like it. It's one of the more eyecatching additions to Manhattan. People are always looking up at it. It practically sold out overnight.

Are there any street level shots of it looking up from below? I'm curious if it's complexity is apparent from that angle.

Did they ever put the Bean on the bottom?

Austin55 May 28, 2017 4:03 AM

I love the shape/massing, some of the coolest ever. But the white rectangles in the glass just clutter the whole thing up.

malmor May 28, 2017 6:30 PM

O MY GOD this building is stunning, hypnotizing!

Thought that had been canceled.

I'm indifferent...

The views on the other hand have to be stunning.

mrnyc Jun 1, 2017 3:17 PM

i thought it would jenga more, but its very striking.

anyway, later this year at long last its going to be all about the bean.

and that will definately happen -- the artist guy anish kapoor himself bought an apt in the bldg last december. you know he will want to walk in by his bean!

I KNEW this building reminded me of something. The 3rd level of Shadow of the Colossus.

This is a building that *almost* had it right. The top is what bugs me a bit. Something about it seems off. Should've come to a pinnacle of sorts.

NYguy Jun 11, 2017 1:27 AM

I think the proportions are all right. A pinnacle would distract from the overall design.

I find this mixture of large glass bays and raw concrete extremely daring to a luxury condo building like this and just appealing. This would be trendy among today's French-speaking architects, especially for the balconies they skillfully managed to it. In fact, I think these are more "terrasses", not exactly balconies. Not everyone can enjoy that outdoor feel in a private condo by these heights...

It's a fascinating building, signature of contemporary architecture with some remaining modern codes to it.

mrnyc Jun 13, 2017 1:39 PM

the denouement of this building, which still hasn't played out as yet, was never going to be at a pinnacle, it was always to be at the base.

i guess we just have to be patient.
