Mystery location, Los Angeles. Glass negative, dated 1914. https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/xq90/923/4023RY.jpg eBay But how do we know this is Los Angeles? Let's take a closer look at that poster in the window. https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/xq90/923/eMyckK.jpg detail THE CALL OF THE WILD Outing & Sportsmen's Event . . .Los Angeles (has anyone heard of this event before?) But the poster doesn't help us with the location. .um. .where the glass slide was taken. Then I noticed a possible clue in the distance. https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/8...923/CCHZlm.jpg detail See the globe streetlight.... (there's also a policeman directing traffic pedestrian crossing the street carrying a newspaper) ? Then a lightbulb went off! Let's check out this chart dated 1909. https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/1...924/qGc3rn.jpg W&P Judging by this, I'd say the glass slide from eBay might have been taken on Spring Street. Whattya think  . |

LA Herald May 16, 1914: https://i.postimg.cc/4dyyvbMy/nlacallofwild-bmp.jpg You might be right about it being Spring Street, ER. Among the items in the show window appear to be thermos bottles, so I'm thing sporting goods--per the 1914 CD, A.G. Spalding & Bros was at 435 S Spring and Tufts-Lyon Arms Co was at 428 |

In the upper right corner of the ad we see the Sportsmans Show was managed by Walter Hempel. A Pasadena resident (and former St. Vincent's College football coach), Hempel was murdered at Lake Tahoe on June 17, 1949: https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._man_FINAL.jpg June 21, 1949, Hollywood Citizen-News @ Newspapers.com https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...ty_-_Copy.jpeg November 3, 1949, Bakersfield Californian @ Newspaperarchive.com https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...f_2_-_Copy.jpg https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...f_2_-_Copy.jpg November 3, 1949, Pasadena Independent @ Newspapers.com RIP Mr. Hempel :( Mark James Donnelly was paroled in March 1962 and apparently soon after married Elva L. Donnelly, who worked at a Reno bank; they divorced in April 1966 (his first wife remarried in 1956). In May 1966 Donnelly married again, to the former Augusta C. Milner. Mark Donnelly died in Sparks, Nevada, on October 15, 1967. |

They just had to agree to shorten the course by 500 meters, or something, and approve that it's a body of water that's affected by tides. The LB Marine Stadium used to be Olympic Standard back in 1932, but subsequent building of the Long Beach Marina and Davies Bridge changed its configuration. |

I'll submit it again as a hunch, but perhaps we can provisionally designate "D" as the one and only "Oomph Girl", the always delightful Ann Sheridan. |
In the pilot edition of :star:Spot The Stars:star: with your host Ethereal Reality, I'll have a go at
E - Dana Andrews J - Gene Tierney M - Buster Crabbe N - Loretta Young  |

The two elbows of the pipe fixture create an offset, and when rotating would cause slight swinging that the riders would feel in addition to the illusion of the rotating room. At least that's my theory. |
