Hey that's mapping rig the company I work for creates and runs (I am a hardware tech (in Berkeley) at HERE Technologies). It was a nice surprise running into a picture of it on my favorite forum! We got a big office in Chicago so this makes a lot of sense. Thanks for sharing!

I know it had the complicated foundation but even since it went vertical into forms this feels like it has been slow

It has definitely not been slow at all...

In a less than 10 week span it has grown 12 floors. That is a really good pace, especially considering the fact they are also now already adding glass!

That's about 6 days per floor, which is a respectable pace. At this rate, it will probably top out sometime in the middle of next summer.

^12 floors in 10 weeks would be considered a 4-day pour cycle as you only count workdays. They may have even shifted to a 3-day cycle now that the floors look typical. With the flying formwork system they are using, a 3-day pour cycle would be the best that is economically achievable. In NYC they do 2-day pour cycles but they come back and top the slabs with a finish topping after the structure is up because the finish is so poor when you go that quickly.

All these pics are fantastic. Awesome to see the glass go up on the north side from the pic from jc...can start to get a feel for how it's going to look. Kind of a different feel from the glass panels with and without the fins. Bonobo - certainly hope you finagle a way to keep that vantage point coming.

Here's my bi-monthly contribution. There was a stunning partly-cloudy day last weekend with the reflections off the glass down-river - it was something else... the pics don't really do it justice. Should be even more remarkable once 110 N. Wacker and WPE are up from the north and south riverwalk viewpoints.

Cheers,

WPWatcher

3rd to last pic is my fav. Shows a gritty almost vintage feel to it!

Same, that vantage point is beautiful. One of the best urban vistas in the world I'd argue.

And me too WPWatcher, me too :haha:
