Looks like one of those fake woodie wagons by GM Group. Annoyingly cheap imitation. But I guess it does have the woodie look to it..

In regards to the previous post about Marilyn's grave site.
Hefner has the tomb to the left of MM. The discoloration on her tomb is from the constant cleaning off of lipstick kisses.

Wow! I worked at this bank branch in 1982 and 1983, when it was Security Pacific. It was a marvelous old branch, full of ancient things. Our cash boxes said "Security Trust and Savings Bank" on them; that bank merged with First National Bank in 1929. When I tidied up the supply room one day, I found a box of 100 pen nibs. The safe-deposit boxes were all pinstriped.

Also, in the bathroom, which was also the janitor's room, was this massive, bulbous urinal. One day, a plumber came in to fish my contact lens out of the sink drain and told me that it was a design that was intended to serve both males and females.

I sure wish I had taken that box of pen nibs.

To link this to the thread theme: This intersection is also the location of the seedy office building where Canino poisons Harry Jones in The Big Sleep.

"Fulwider Building, Western and Santa Monica. Office four-twenty-eight at the back".
I don't see four stories buildings at this intersection. Two stories maximum. Was Raymond Chandler once again not checking the likelihood of his locations ?

Yeah, and Raymond Chandler had the nerve to call the star of The Blue Dahlia Miss Moronica Lake...

Thanks, Flyingwedge, I never heard about that exhibition before!

You never know when one of the NLA unsolved mysteries will become solved. I don't believe that had been determined until now. (And that post was five years ago!)

... And forgot to give a forename and surname to the character that she plays in "The Blue Dahlia".

It was sometime before 2007 oops, not necessarily

Go HERE and move the 2007 google-car one step forward. The sign goes from old to new. < Wrong again! I swear I saw the sign change.

We're looking at a building on the southeasternmost corner of the Hollywood Center Studios lot (1040 N. Las Palmas Avenue) as seen from Romaine Street.

Hollywood Center Studios has since been renamed Sunset Las Palmas Studios. The "Fallon Paints" building was demolished not long ago, and the ground beneath it excavated. Construction has already begun on a new building.

Back in April I posted a couple of photos taken one Sunday during the demolition phase. Tomorrow I may go take some photos of what that corner looks like now.

At first glance it looks like the old Pig n' Whistle is wearing a fake moustache. (in my demented imagination)

What, pray-tell, is written on the tall blue sign? (above the old 'Pig n' Whistle)

https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/6...923/PrqSDA.jpg
DETAIL

It looks like London, Witches(?) and then...Ponies?

Also note the Pioneer Pigeon on the corner.

DETAIL

The lime-green sign appears to say..Jambl's(?) or Jamgl's(?) (I don't see an e)

Now, let's go even further back in time.....to 1966.

FINLAY BELCHER

It looks like there's going to be a premiere. (note the people in bleachers)

The movie playing is How To Steal A Million [1966]

One last thing:

What's up with this sign to the left of the theater?

https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/6...921/UPowfN.png
DETAIL

I thought it was some sort of 'modern' design at first...now I just think the plexiglass fell off.

Does anyone remember what store this was in the late 1970s?

Just hazarding a guess here: London Britches Pants. If memory serves, a lot of retail outlets in the 1970s had "clever" names.
