Thanks. That's closer to what I'd have guessed. |
Fort Worth's TEX Rail opens Jan 5th 2019.
The line has a 20-hour per day schedule, with hourly service. https://ridetrinitymetro.org/texrail/schedules/ This line also now allows for public transport between Dallas and Fort Worth on Sundays, via a connection between TEX Rail and the DART light rail at DFW Airport (the existing TRE rail between the two cities doesn't operate on Sundays). |

In the Twin Cities, the Southwest line (Green Line extension) officially broke ground in late November. I'm not sure if any actual construction has begun yet but the project is moving forward.

Given that article says "construction is slated to begin this winter," I'm going to hold off listing it for now. But please do update the thread when the situation changes. Thanks!

The regular service on GO Transit's Lakefront West line to Saint Catherine's and Niagara Falls begins Jan. 7th, 2019. The new station at Confederation is supposed to open later in 2019 and the Grimsby station is supposed to open in 2021. The existing VIA stations at Saint Catherine's and Niagara Falls are to be renovated. The Niagara Falls extension was originally due to open in 2023.

TEXRail was scheduled to open in a few hours, but has been delayed due to lack of inspection by FRA during shutdown.

Since 2012, built or UC(from my rough counting est and selected cities that interested me in the US):
Denver- 83 SF- 79 miles Los Angeles- 62 miles SLC- 54 miles DC- 48 miles Dallas-47 miles Seattle-33 miles Honolulu- 20 miles NYC-14 miles Charlotte- 14 miles Phoenix- 9 miles Its funny, maybe its because I am so far removed from SF(in so many way), but I had no clue how many projects were happening in the Bay Area. I knew about Denver though, extremely impressive stuff happening there in the last decade. Other than that I am glad DC is still chugging along with construction, hopeful Dallas will increase ridership and extend, super excited for Seattle and the future of that city transit-wise and mildly disappointed by the NYC area when you compare it to places like Charlotte and Phoenix. |
Added the Toronto GO Niagara extension to the list, which appears to be under construction.

Would SEPTA's return to Wawa count as U/C? The line has been (mostly) abandoned for some time now but is currently being refurbished for a planned opening in 2020/2021:

The extension to Wawa is indeed great news. But once again the renderings shown on Septa's site are a reminder that while it seems much of the world designs their railway stations as clean and modern contemporary public spaces, with this new terminal we seem to be getting what resembles a 1983 Burger King.
