Started shooting some updates for bKL. Stopped by the Pier yesterday AM before they close for the season after Monday. Wild times.

Is that pool deck really just 1 story above LSD?
That'll be enjoyable in the summer... listening to loud motorcycles and inhaling fumes all day, yikes. |

People don't care about the noise so much and the fumes are not a huge issue with the breeze off the lake. It also seems they have installed a glass sound-deadening wall which should muffle the noise somewhat. |

From the renderings is looks like the final tallest tower (Parcel I) would take after the blue facade and not copper, kind of a relief. The copper is okay but I don't think it would look as good on a 1K foot building. |

Could look pretty cool when the east side gets hit with a lot of sun early in the day.

Maybe I've lost my sense of time from being in quarantine, but I feel like these towers and One Chicago are finishing much faster than other skyscrapers in the city
|
^ Cirrus & Cascade broke ground in late Aug 2019, so they have indeed been rising fast. It's great that the pandemic did not slow them down.

Looks like one of the towers could be topping out soon..

^ There is so much activity on the site for Parcel I. Perhaps construction is imminent? Cirrus & Cascade will top out soon.

I am skeptical that Parcel I would suddenly be starting |

This is assuming that starting the big one right after is still the plan... |

wow.. you can also see One Chicago and that's as clean as I've seen DuSable Park |
Shot some updates for bKL last Friday. Here are a few favorites:

^^ That is one WIDE angle lens.

First, I shot it with my tilt-shift lens panned up. I can rotate the front element of the lens 45° then shift. In effect, I can move the lens in an "X" pattern without having to actually move the camera, so the stitch is seamless. Then, of course, I had to digitally perspective control the panorama to get nice and straight vertical lines. https://i.imgur.com/UADXSI3.png?1 |

I knew that these towers would be beautiful but they are BEAUUUTIFUL. Befitting of the lakefront and bodes well for Parcel I!

Gloomy Chicago 10-26-20 (69) by BartShore, on Flickr Quick question on a side note, but what are they doing to the South of the Chicago Spire hole? Past the overhead highway closest to the water? |
Quote:
EDIT: DuSable Park is east of the hole. But I think what you're referring to the Lakefront trail project which is south-east. |
Thanks Fvn.
Hopefully they can finish it soon. Such an eyesore. And finally remove that hole in the ground too. |

Seems odd to spend money on a "temporary" park? Maybe a sign that site I isn't happening in the next ten years?

Yep, same stuff used for Maggie Daley Park
