1979 Here. Moved to Chicago about a month before 9-11.

Logan Square for 3 years, Lakeview for 2 years, Lincoln Park for 2 years, Uptown for 5 years, Lakeview for 3 years.

Live at Fremont and Addison now, we can see the lights of Wrigley from our bedroom/roofdeck. I love living that close, so much energy between Wrigley and Boystown.

Born in 77 here and used to go a slew of games with the pops in the early and mid 80s. We used to go strolling in the neighborhood after games and I can distinctly remember it being middle-income at best and dare I say sketchy and feeling borderline unsafe on some streets east and south of the park.

Obviously a little OT, but...

Interesting that you mention that; I think it's mostly attributed to the fact that the neighborhood, though it has suffered from much decline (in terms of population, crime, etc.), is still mostly intact from an infrastructural standpoint. Hell, most of the original building stock from the glory days is still there and in decent shape. And of course, you still have great access to the Green line, Ike, and so on.

Of course this isn't true all the way across the board, but I assume that Austin will still experience the same renaissance that Humboldt Park is beginning to see, regardless of HP's proximity to the 606. Who knows just what kind of transformation there will be in this area in the coming 10-20 years, but I believe it will be positive.

^^ thanks for posting! I am really, really pleasantly surprised by how this hotel design has evolved - just as I was for the mixed-use plaza building (or whatever it's called). Nice stuff......

agree with you, Sam... we started out with a watered-down Disney version of Wrigleyland which gave me little hope... this is a very pleasant surprise...

The Addison Park on Clark development seems to be going at full steam. Saw a couple of Case Foundation rigs maneuvering on site with caisson sleeves stacked along the perimeter fence along Clark. Lots of site activity this morning.

Wow, that hotel looks really cool with the curving design at the corner. It's really going to activate that area even more. I like how there is activity even on the second floor, that is really rare to see in Chicago.

The hotel curvature reminds me of the contour of the right field wall...
