SAN FRANCISCO | Mission Rock | 240 FT x 3, 190 FT x 2, lower rise

. . . the project that aims to develop San Francisco's Seawall 337 (a large lot in Mission Bay which currently serves as Parking Lot A for AT&T Park) . . . . into new affordable homes, jobs, and waterfront open space . . . .
The proposed development includes office and retail space, 1,500 rental units (40% of which will be affordable housing), 3,100 parking spaces, including a new parking garage to serve AT&T Park, and eight acres of public space and parks, including a redesigned China Basin at the northern edge of the site. The east-west portion of Terry A. Francois Boulevard would also be eliminated and converted into a pedestrian-priority street for easy access to Piers 48 and 50.

Where did Willie McCovey statue go? Giants’ ballpark will miss it until 2023
John Shea
July 3, 2020 Updated: July 3, 2020 5:24 p.m.

The Willie McCovey statue is an epic feature of the Oracle Park experience, and now it’s gone.

The statue of one of the most popular Giants in history is in storage as construction continues on the Mission Rock waterfront project across the cove named after the Hall of Fame first baseman.

The Giants say the statue, which was unveiled in 2003 to honor McCovey, is not expected to reappear across McCovey Cove until 2023, when Phase 1 of the project is complete . . . .

The first phase includes four large buildings, including two 23-story residential towers, and a 5-acre waterfront park. The target date for completion is the final quarter of 2022, meaning it should be ready — with the statue back in place — by Opening Day 2023 . . . .

Yay for a legit thread! This will be a fun one to watch! I can't wait to see the finished product when Giants baseball is on both local and national broadcast... hell even Warriors when it overlooks Chase Center to downtown!

Here are some more renderings of Mission Rock to those who are not aware of the project:

Yes, because it is not under actual construction.

Gee, I read the thread title so fast I thought it said "3,190 FT"!

Yeah, I have been in Mission Bay as many of these buildings have gone up. The foundation work can take a looooooooooong time.

timbad Sep 20, 2020 11:15 PM

360 view of the development.

That's going to be a REAL nice view from those apartments. I would not be surprised if an MLB employee lives there. Easy walk to work

homebucket Dec 7, 2020 9:57 PM

That is an awesome view. With the ballpark, the marina, the skyline, and the bridge. On a warm summer day with the kayaks filling McCovey Cove. Hard to find a better urban view in all of North America.
