Mutual of Omaha new tower proposal. Appears to be around 44 stories. Slated to be downtown in the former city library location. City today also announced a streetcar line going from downtown to midtown Omaha.

woah, is it really going to be that tall? Looks easily 500 feet, and the podium is massive.

A couple articles I read stated its going to be in the 40-50 floor range and "potentially" surpassing First National Tower, the current tallest in the state.

Definitely looking forward to more info on this one!

I count ~40 floors with a substantial rooftop screen wall as well.

My guess is 600 - 700' tall.

Omaha's current tallest is 634', so this could very well be a new tallest for the city.

I was thinking pickard-chilton, but PCP is a good guess as well.

It's been a long time coming. But this is no overly optimistic real estate developer.. when financially conservative Mutual of Omaha decides it's going to do something, you know it's going to get done..

From the link HOK is mentioned as the architect.

That rendering screams Pickard Chilton (which, incidentally, is also mentioned in the linked press release. FWIW, the mention of HOK was not as the architect, but in connection with a "study to assess its space needs and develop a compelling vision of the future workplace."

A couple paragraphs later it says: "In addition to developer Lanoha Real Estate Co., Mutual is working with a design team that includes Kendall/Heaton Associates of Houston, Picard Chilton of New Haven, Conn., and Omaha’s Alvine Engineering. "

A long time coming and a streetcar line to boot. Big day for the ole hometown.

Yeah, the design is textbook Pickard Chilton.

They're also doing the new Sherwin Williams HQ tower in Cleveland.

And they also designed the newish Northwest Mutual HQ tower in Milwaukee completed in 2017.

They're starting to get a lock on corporate HQ trophy towers in the Midwest.

although PCP is known for this design archetype all over the world, Pickard Chilton does have a very iconic example in Atlanta that is indeed very similar.

Great Looking building Omaha!! I really hope it gets built! Looks to be around 650-700'.... I often wondered when Mutual of Omaha was going build a significant tower in DT Omaha! It also looks like it will sit on land that sits lower in elevation than the current tallest. Might look to be the same height when finished. I'll be down from Minneapolis to see this one Hopefully if it gets built!

BTW....If you include the podium and eliminate the mechanical floor at the top, I count 45 stories!
